This Position reports to:

Quality Manager

Your Role & Responsibilities:

As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through various projects. Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your expertise by supporting ABB’s operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities.

The work model for the role is: onsite

This role is contributing to the Electrification Business.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Obtain feedback from critical stakeholders involved in the new product or the process improvement

  •  Work with cross-functional teams to execute projects on time and on budget

  • Develop and maintain web-based applications for processes in order to improve their efficiency and eliminate waste

  •  Find and pitch improvement ideas, and then execute ideas if approved into a full project

  • Document any best practices discovered and/or standards implemented

  • Local and international competition where university students develop a continuous improvement team project based on quality wins and lean manufacturing methodology and principles during the summer.

Qualifications for the Role:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, and Manufacturing engineering in the United States.

  • Intern must have reliable transportation to and from the worksite.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.

  •  Utilize critical thinking skills to analyze complex situations and develop strategic solutions

  •  Effectively organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines

  • Demonstrate the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously without compromising quality

  • Collaborate with team members to convey ideas, share information, and provide updates on project progress

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Application of Lean Methodology tools (5’s, DMAIC, Kanban, VSM, Line balancing).

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment (projects or internships).

  • Lean training or certifications preferred but not required.

  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Office tools.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience participating in a team environment.

  • Ability to implement digital or automated solutions (Industry 4.0)
