Your Impact at Lila

Lila Sciences is seeking a thoughtful and dynamic co-op or intern to join our physical sciences team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the development of thin film materials. They will work collaboratively with the vacuum synthesis team to synthesize novel materials for a variety of applications. This role provides a unique opportunity to engage in innovative research and development activities across multiple disciplines.

What You'll Be Building

  • Synthesize and evaluate thin film materials.
  • Analyze physical vapor deposition process data and materials characterization results to identify patterns and develop testable hypotheses.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and problem-solving activities to optimize experimental protocols. 

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Excellent organizational skills with deep attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. 

Bonus Points For

  • Proficiency in sputtering or other physical vapor deposition techniques.
  • Proficiency in relevant laboratory techniques such as material synthesis and characterization methods (e.g., profilometry, XRD, SEM).
