This position primarily oversees administration of internships, with overall management of the academic internship program for all undergraduate and several graduate programs, including:- Oversight of the internship registration process/paperwork, Experiences portion of Handshake to manage the program, undergraduate and graduate internship curriculum, including related academic proposals for program changes and permissions, and management of Canvas courses.
Job Description
Essential Functions
- Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
- Advising students interested in and enrolled in academic (credit-bearing) internships, as well as students with general internship questions/interest in 1:1 search strategy appointments and through search strategy workshops.
- Communication and coordination with faculty internship advisors in all participating majors to maintain existing relationships, while establishing relationships in onboarding new faculty.
- Interaction with internship supervisors/employers to support registered academic interns and Career Services’ employer outreach efforts, in collaboration with the Associate Director of Industry Relations.
- Develop and execute marketing plans to increase participation in internship programs and appointments.
- Collaborate with faculty across various departments to conduct internship presentations in classrooms.
- Liaise with Director of International Student Services to assist in CPT (Curricular Practical Training) work authorization for international students enrolling in internship for credit courses.
- Educate international students about in-school work authorization options, internship search strategy, and guide international students through registration process.
- Development and implementation of internship-focused career programs including, but not limited to the Student Internship Panel and Internship/CPT Workshop for International Students,
- Collaboration with academic offices across campus to resolve student issues and ensure NACE/Federal and Jefferson guidelines are enforced.
- Assess learning outcomes and participation in internship programs and track data for quarterly and annual reports.
- Administer, track, and create the First Destination Outcomes annual report and submit data to NACE.
- Collect the department’s learning assessment data and report findings in the divisional outcomes rubric for Student Life.
- Support all counseling, collaborations, and programming efforts coordinated by the Career Services Center, including workshop delivery, individual career and job search counseling appointments, general walk-ins, and events.

- Excellent interpersonal, counseling, organizational, and presentation skills.
- A strong understanding of recruiting/hiring processes and timelines, and academic policies and procedures.
- Evidence of faculty collaboration and program management.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate and develop projects, both independently and collaboratively.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task with ease among students, faculty and employers, in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven interest in student career & professional development with experience administering career assessments.
- Knowledge of NACE/Federal internship guidelines, use of Handshake (or similar career management systems), Microsoft Office and aptitude for learning new software applications.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Education:
- A master’s degree in Counseling or Higher Ed/Student Affairs

- minimum of 3 years professional experience in a university setting.
