Job Description
We are seeking a qualified Apprentice Technical Trainer to support our premium OEM customer’s technical training program. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified technician interested with a passion learning, who is interested in becoming an instructor for retail technicians.
The primary purpose of this role to assist a lead trainer in training retail OEM technicians in the diagnostic strategies and proper repair of vehicle systems. You will assist in all aspects of training delivery at the regional Academy, including workshop and vehicle set-up, materials preparation, classroom preparedness, and communications with student technicians. This role is focused on building skills to be able to deliver course material as a technical trainer in the future.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Prepare workshops and vehicles for experiential learning.
- Assist lead technical trainer in the delivery of training workshops, with the goal of improving diagnosis and repair competency of retail technicians.
- Ensure the training classrooms, workshops, tools, student guides, literature, and vehicles are properly maintained and prepared for classes.
- Re-set classrooms after class completions.
- Ensure set-up for virtual classes is complete and assist learners with troubleshooting.
- Assist with maintaining attendee training records in learning portal.
- Perform light to medium lifting requirements in workshop.
- Ability to travel on occasion, if required.
- Ad hoc technical training projects as assigned by the lead technical trainer.
- Enhance your technical instructional skills by gaining technical knowledge of OEM’s products, vehicle systems, and diagnostic technology.
- Comply with health and safety standards and maintain a safe work environment in the Training Center.
- Maintain shop cleanliness and follow published 5S standards.
- Maintain a professional relationship with JLRNA employees and supplier personnel.
- Maintain and use equipment in the workshop to operational standard.
- Take reasonable pre-cautions to protect company vehicles.
Qualifications
- 5 or more years of work experience in automotive technical repair and diagnostics.
- Professional certification (OEM Master Technician or ASE Master Technician).
- Passion for learning and an interest in becoming a technical trainer.
- Enjoy working as part of a team.
- Knowledge and experience with electric vehicle technology a plus.
- Ability to read, interpret and explain mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) a plus.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent Automotive Technology a plus.
- Bilingual in Spanish, a plus.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
