SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

This job has the goal of providing the opportunity to acquire practical experience through direct exposure to the related business line(s) and to develop the next generation of diverse business professionals.  To that end, the program will provide hands-on training and experience in the business line, expose the various career opportunities in the business line and related areas, and prepare participants for positions in the business.

Typical responsibilities include, providing services to the day-to-day operating objectives of the assigned area, participating in projects and programs appropriate to the needs of the assigned area, participating in the planning and implementation of projects and initiatives, conducting research and reporting including recommendations or proposals for action.

This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a meaningful project that enhances member experience through AI-driven personalization. The intern will gain valuable skills and insights that will benefit their future career while helping Highmark innovate in member onboarding.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s program in Business, Healthcare Administration, Information Science, Computer Science, or Data Science.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Interest in healthcare, UX, and AI.
  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts (preferred).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 
1. • Investigate current HRA best practices and industry trends. Explore AI-enabled service matching technologies and their application to HRA. Analyze member data to identify improvement opportunities 

2. Collaborate with UX/UI designers to propose portal enhancements. Document functional and technical requirements. Research API capabilities for integrating AI-driven recommendations.

3.Develop wireframes and prototypes of the redesigned HRA. Conduct user testing with stakeholders and select members.. 

4.  Present findings, designs, and implementation recommendations. Compile a comprehensive report of all research and design work.

5. Research report on HRA best practices and AI technologies. Documentation of portal requirements for AI integration. Wireframes and prototypes showcasing AI-driven recommendations. Final presentation with cost-benefit analysis and implementation roadmap.

6.Accelerate HRA redesign and implementation. Contribute fresh ideas, especially around AI-enabled service matching. Support strategic initiatives by freeing up team resources. Enhance member engagement and health outcomes. Provide insights into future personalized health insurance products. Help Highmark explore AI’s potential to improve care and reduce disparities.. 

7. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
