Johnson & Johnson MedTech is recruiting for our Research & Development summer internship located in Jacksonville, FL.
Research, innovation, and new product development is our focus.
With a powerful mission to change the trajectory of eye health, our Vision organization is committed to understand the challenges impacting patients and apply deep science and engineering to enable innovative solutions. We provide our patients with a new horizon through our ACUVUE® family of contact lenses and our wide portfolio of intraocular lenses (IOL) and vision surgery technology.
Summer interns will partner with teams of scientists and engineers to expand our deep technical capabilities and develop new products aimed at meeting a variety of eye health needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Execute a project assignment involving an eye health product (spanning early research to pilot/commercialization stage), an enabling technology, or our internal operations that enable research and development.
Perform deliverables involving fundamental statistical research and clinical data analysis clinical study execution, and simulation studies.
Work closely with other technical disciplines.
Review progress and evaluate results of project(s) across various functional groups.
Qualifications
Education:
Completed at least 1 year of graduate school in a PhD program in Statistical Sciences/Biostatistics or related fields program. Candidates at the end of their program are desirable.
Experience and Skills:
Required:
Some experience with SAS and/or R is required. Solid knowledge of programming in R is desirable.
Basic proficiency in data analysis methodologies
Open to learn new statistical skills and ready to think out-of-the-box for problem solving solutions.
Some knowledge of statistical testing is required (e.g. Type I and II error rates)
Interest and aptitude to build simulation code.
Some familiarity with clinical trials concepts is required.
Ability to work well with others and independently as needed, with guidance and support from the internal Biostatistics Team
Good written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work in the USA
Working fully on site at the Jacksonville FL office.
Key activities
This position will provide exposure to different statistical aspects related to analysis of clinical trials data, and marketing efforts.
Learning to design simulation studies for different purposes, such as assessing and comparing different multiplicity adjustment strategies.
Enhance skills to generate statistical graphical displays of clinical data using either R or SAS software.
