Computational Science Intern

Salary Range: 27 to 36 (Currency: USD) (Pay period: per-hour-wage)

Key Responsibilities:

• Apply experience and expertise to challenging ion transport problems
• Refinement and refactoring of current numerical tools
• Work with numerical physics leader to define and execute key projects

YOU MUST HAVE:

• Must be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program
• Graduating on/after 2026 
• Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person. defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status
• Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.

WE VALUE:

• Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in physics, mathematics, computer science, or a related field preferred
• Proficiency in one or more compiled languages such as C, Fortran, Java, Rust preferred
• Experience interfacing compiled libraries with Python, for example via ctypes or f2py
• Experience modeling a variety of physical processes including electrostatics
• Familiarity with software configuration, delivery, and deployment tools like Git
• Public-facing code: repositories, coursework, research, hobbies, etc.
• Teamwork and collaboration
• Individuals who are results-oriented and able to work with little supervision, who consistently take the initiative to get things done despite competing priorities
• Good interpersonal skills, verbal and written
