Job Description

Matchbox Pictures is looking for a scripted development intern to be based in either its Sydney or Melbourne office. Ideal candidates should have a strong interest in a career in scripted development across genres; a love and understanding of television drama is essential. The selected candidate will have strong interpersonal and organisational abilities as well as the capability to multi-task and prioritise with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience in administration, production, research, script assessment will be highly regarded. Ideally you will also be proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Final Draft, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Project specific research.
  • Market research for domestic and international markets.
  • Coverage of various.
  • Assistance in creating pitch decks and presentations.
  • Assistance with budgets, schedules and writers room coordination.
  • Assistance with funding acquittals and applications.
  • Provide script notes and coverage as directed by the development team. 
  • Coordinating the execution of legal documents, filing and general administration tasks as directed by development team.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements

  • Keen interest in scripted development and production.
  • Skills/interest in other creative areas; graphic and visual design.
  • An awareness of the domestic and international market for scripted television. 
  • A positive perspective on ideas with an ability to contribute to a creative conversation across a broad range of genres and critique constructively.
  • Have strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A self-starter who is motivated, inquisitive, flexible, creative, collaborative and hard-working

  • Actively completing tertiary studies ideally in Film and Television, during the 2026 year.
