OUR BANK - The Federal Reserve is the central bank of the United States and is one of the most influential, trusted, and prestigious financial organizations. It consists of twelve Reserve Banks located around the country and the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C. The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta territory covers the Sixth Federal Reserve District, which includes Alabama, Florida, and Georgia, and portions of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee. The Atlanta Fed and the other Reserve Banks play an important part in all three of the Fed's functions: monetary policy, bank supervision and regulation, and the operation of a nationwide payment system.

SCOPE OF ASSIGNMENT:

Support the Information Security Policy, Risk, and Compliance team in maintaining the organization’s control framework, conducting risk assessments, and assisting with policy, audit, and compliance activities. This internship provides hands-on exposure to how security governance and risk oversight enable organizational resilience and regulatory confidence.

Responsibilities:

  •   Assist with documentation and maintenance of the risk register, control library, and compliance evidence.

  •   Support internal risk and control assessments using established frameworks (e.g., NIST).

  •   Collect, review, and organize audit artifacts and policy documentation.

  •   Help prepare dashboards, reports, and presentations using Excel or Power BI.

  •   Participate in control testing and issue remediation tracking

  •   Conduct basic research on emerging regulations and security standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum cumulative GPA above 3.0 in academically rigorous curriculum.
  • Must be committed to working a 40-hour work week for 10-12 weeks during the summer months.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 Suite and Sharepoint
  • High level knowledge of risk management standards

Technical Skills:

  •    Proficiency with Excel and document management tools.

  •    Familiarity with GRC ticketing systems for workflow tracking.

  •     Exposure to Power BI or Tableau for risk and compliance reporting.

  •     Understanding of control frameworks and simple risk scoring models.

Functional Skills:

  •    Foundational understanding of risk identification, assessment, and mitigation.

  •     Ability to interpret control statements and relate them to organizational policies.

  •     Awareness of key cybersecurity and regulatory frameworks (NIST, ISO, SOX, GLBA, HIPAA).

  •     Strong analytical and documentation skills with attention to detail.

  •  Computer Science

  • Cybersecurity

  • Management/Computer Information Systems
