What can you expect in this role?

Definity’s Enterprise Data Office (EDO) is dedicated to facilitating the governance and responsible management of data and driving initiatives to operationalize and embed data and information governance capabilities across the organization. 

We are looking for a Data Governance Analyst Co-Op.  Through this work you will be utilizing both Analytical & Technical skills. Working alongside the EDO team in fulfilling essential tasks - analysis, inquiry, progress tracking, presentations, document and meeting organization - for strategically important projects involving, but not limited to, data governance, data classification, enablement, and data protection.  This position would report to the Data Governance & Strategy Manager

What you’ll be doing

Key Accountabilities:
• Understanding Data Governance Practice
• Develop and maintain education/communication tools and documents (e.g., internal document libraries, SharePoint, presentations)
• Work to enhance the Collibra Data Catalog and conduct business administration activities
• Develop topical knowledge and competence in tools and processes used in the Enterprise Data Office & Definity
• Assist other team members as directed and continue to strengthen working relationships with key stakeholders

What you bring 

Must-Have:
• Enrolled in Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business, or a related field
• Strong communication skills and a desire to work in a team environment
• High proficiency in MS Office desktop tools - presentations, spreadsheets, etc.
• Analytical thinker with a willingness to challenge the status quo
• Be able to self-manage and meet various team deadlines
• A creative and enquiring mind to continuously improve current processes

Nice to Have:
• Knowledge of Cloud and data Governance technologies (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, Collibra)
• Undergraduate courses in Data Analysis & Data Management
• Entry-level knowledge of common insurance industry products and practices
• Familiarity with common analytical and presentation tools
