Data Scientist Intern

Emerging Professional Program (EPP)

An internship path focused on equipping graduating students with the tools/skills needed to transition into a potential career at TruStage. Interns receive comprehensive support and guidance to enhance their company knowledge, integrate into the company culture, and develop key connections. This pathway enables young professionals to be considered for potential opportunities at TruStage. Open to students graduating in December 2026 or May 2027.
 

Job Purpose:
This role is designed to provide hands-on experience in business analytics, experimental design, and predictive machine learning within the Data Science & Analytics department to support various areas across TruStage. Candidates will have the opportunity to apply what they have learned in a classroom environment to achieve real-time business goals, while gaining new skills in a dynamic professional setting.

As a Data Scientist Intern, you will work with a team of Data Scientists and other cross-functional partners to execute current analytics and predictive modeling initiatives and to research additional opportunities to implement machine learning and artificial intelligence solutions. This role requires critical attention to detail in a fast-paced environment, self-motivation, and resourcefulness to solve problems and answer questions. The ideal candidate will have coursework experience critical to the role, in addition to accessing and analyzing data warehouses and relational databases, with a clear desire to move into a data analytics career after graduation.
 

Job Responsibilities:
Work collaboratively and independently within a fast-paced, innovative culture.  Conduct research on projects/files that require in-depth study and analysis, and provide actionable insights to our business partners. Gather and organize data for reports/projects, conduct statistical tests, develop predictive models, prepare written reports, resolve problems and/or issues, and attend and participate in meetings.

Job Requirements:

  • Working towards a relevant degree or equivalent work experience
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Intellectual curiosity and the desire to learn

Preferred Experience:

  • Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Management Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Analytics or related major.
  • Experience in accessing and analyzing data warehouses and relational databases, preferably through the use of SQL.
  • Knowledge/experience in some/all of the following: Multivariate Regression, Logistic Regression, Support Vector Machines, Bagging, Boosting, Decision Trees, common clustering algorithms, Optimization, Stochastic Processes, Recommendation Systems, Metric Learning, Multi-Task/Transfer Learning, Active Learning, Hierarchical/Deep Learning.
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and interpret patterns in data and produce relevant visualizations.
  • Knowledge and practical use of R or Python or other scripting languages for data analysis.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, and the desire to learn.

Base Salary Range:

$24.00 - $33.00
