This position is expected to start around August or September 2025 and continue through the Fall term (ending approximately December 2025) or continuing into Winter/Spring 2026 if available and there is an opportunity to do so. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time and on-site, for most internships. Our internship program is for students who are actively enrolled in an academic program. Recent graduates seeking employment after graduation and not returning to school should apply for full-time positions, not internships.
International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

The Cell Engineering team at Tesla is looking for a highly motivated intern to contribute to fundamental improvements on our knowledge of how cells work. Tesla is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work with a world-class team developing Tesla’s battery technology. This role is focused on analysis and interpretation of battery tests and image data. Your work may include developing software to improve workflows, analyzing large datasets generated from our test labs, creating data visualizations, and improving the robustness of our automated analysis pipeline. The ideal candidate will combine strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals with software programming. Teamwork, analytical ability, organizational skills, and attention to detail are all highly valued skills. Individuals at every level carry a tremendous amount of responsibility and should look forward to learning an incredible amount on the job.
Job Responsibilities
Designing tests and analyzing data to explore fundamental battery degradation modes or drive actionable recommendations to improve vehicle product performance/quality
Identify, analyze, and interpret trends of patterns in complex data sets and depict the story via dashboards and reports
Write efficient SQL/Python code and complex queries across extensive data sets
Work effectively with engineers and conduct end-to-end analyses, from data requirement gathering, to data processing and modeling
Automate analyses and author pipelines using SQL, Python, and Airflow based ETL framework
Job Requirements
Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science or a related field
Significant, demonstrated technical contributions towards past projects
Programming experience with Python (preferred), MATLAB, and/or JavaScript
Experience with continuous integration / continuous deployment
Some familiarity with dev-ops tools: Git, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Splunk, Redis
Experience with distributed computing (Spark/Hive/Hadoop)
Experience creating data products and dashboards in Tableau, R Shiny, or D3
First principles understanding of engineering concepts with relevant project/research experience
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to work independently on multiple projects with complex requirements
