The purpose of this internship is to prepare college students for entry into the business world by providing a thorough understanding of the various functions of the Zebra Technologies organization. The program is designed to provide you with a full experience so that you can fully envision a career with Zebra. You will be positioned for success with training, exposure to all parts of the business, social activities, a professional mentor relationship and development sessions to help you discover your own performance edge!
Zebra Enterprise Mobile computing (EMC) Handheld Products Team is responsible for the design and development of Zebra’s Android Based Handheld Touch Computers used in the Retail and T&L market and Android Handheld Application Specific Gun and Brick form-factor Mobile Computers used in Warehouse and Manufacturing. Our SW Development Team works closely with EMC Platform Software Group and other functional Team to bring quality enterprise class products to market We work closely with other functional teams to bring quality enterprise class Android product to market. We have been practicing Agile Software development model for years now, this means most of the technical decision-making is within the team. We have developers with all different skill sets and many have been with company for more than 10-15 years. Our motto for the past few years has been: “think outside-of-the-box and be creative!”
Responsibilities:
- Intern project will be given by the lead SW developer (along with the intern), which will be one of the following areas:
- Android applications
- Android internals (Framework, background services)
- Kernel device driver
- Bootloader
- Intern is expected to perform research on the topic of choice (with help from senior developer).
- Developing proof of concept SW (or HW prototype)
- Expected to present finding/progress/issues to internal team every other week
- Presenting final intern presentation at the end of the internship
THIS IS A HYBRID INTERNSHIP LOCATED IN HOLTSVILLE, NY. THE EXPECTATION IS AT LEAST 3 DAYS OF IN-OFFICE ATTENDANCE.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree program in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
- Must have an anticipated graduation date between 2026 - 2029
- Must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications:
- Programming languages: Java, Python, and/or C/C++
- Basic understanding of AI/ML concepts
- Familiar with Android or other mobile OS application and UI development
- Familiar with Linux command line and Ubuntu is a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, & PowerPoint)
- Intellectual curiosity with a strong desire to learn and grow
- Proven leadership and excellence in professional, academic, and/or extracurricular experiences
- Ability to collaborate as part of a team
- Effective verbal and written communication skills

Salary: USD 23.00 - USD 31.00 Hourly
Salary offered will vary depending on your location, job-related skills, knowledge, and experience.
Additionally, all Zebra roles are eligible for cash incentive programs. For example, sales roles have additional opportunity to earn substantial variable compensation tied to quota achievement. In most other roles, the Zebra annual cash incentive program links Company and individual performance together. Some roles may also be eligible for long-term incentive equity awards.
