POSITION SUMMARY

The Advanced Clinical Research group leads the design and development of J&J MedTech Heart Recovery’s early clinical studies. We are seeking a co-op student to support the development and research of clinical databases for several upcoming studies. The primary objective of this role is to structure data to enable synthesis of mechanistic measurements (such as hemodynamics) with clinical outcomes, thereby informing the design of future trials. Depending on time, skills, and interest, the candidate may also explore adjacent technologies and assess how they can help us understand outcomes in Impella patients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in data structuring, cleaning, and curation of clinical databases for multiple studies

  • Collaborate with clinicians and research to identify key data elements and outcomes

  • Work closely with scientific lead to perform analysis to support future clinical trials

  • Conduct independent analyses using large datasets

  • Conduct background research on prior studies and how they might help inform future clinical trials

  • Research adjacent device technologies and how to leverage them in future trials.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficient with writing database design and queries (e.g. MySQL, Postgres, etc.)

  • Familiarity with basic statistical analysis and coding tools (Python, R)

  • Experience working with API’s

  • Self-motivated, execute tasks with attention to detail in a timely manner

  • Strong ability in documenting processes and reasoning

  • Student pursuing a degree in engineering or Pre-Med

  • Interest in clinical research

  • Attention to detail – both written and visual

  • Eagerness to learn and explore new technologies

  • Excellent team player

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

23$ per hour to 51.50$ per hour

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

The anticipated base pay for this position is between 23$ per hour and 51.50$ per hour but will be based on candidate's program year, discipline, degree and/or experience. This position is overtime eligible. Intern/Co-ops may be eligible to participate in Company employee benefit programs such as medical insurance, sick time, holiday pay, and the Company’s consolidated retirement plan in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans. Housing stipend will be offered for those that qualify. This position is ineligible for severance.
