As an intern working on software development at Autodesk, you will collaborate with a team of researchers and software engineers to use GPUs for accelerating numerical solver calculations that power the simulation of plastic injection molding. The goal is to improve and refine the existing framework so that parallelization will provide a concrete reduction in solution time.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement testable, readable, and production-quality code

  • Evaluate the use of general-purpose GPU programming to reduce solution time for existing algorithms while maintaining numerical accuracy

  • Implement programs that fit the general-purpose GPU programming paradigm

  • Participate in team meetings and practice an Agile development mindset throughout the software development lifecycle

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's program in Computer Science, Engineering, Science, Math, or a similar field at an accredited university in Australia

  • Completed coursework or projects using C++ or a similar programming language

  • Programming experience in a Windows, Mac OS, or Linux environment

  • Knowledge of computer science subjects, especially object-oriented programming, data structures, and parallel programming

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Expected to complete your degree by the end of 2026 and looking to gain professional experience to start a career in software development

  • Internship Period: January – December 2026 (12 months, full-time)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building applications involving parallel programming or general-purpose GPU programming

  • Familiarity with programming models for general computing on GPUs, such as CUDA, OpenCL, or HIP

Learning Benefits

  • Gain experience with Agile (scrum) software development lifecycle through daily work

  • Gain exposure to parallel programming and numerical simulation

  • Acquire hands-on experience in software development and validation of accuracy

  • Work in a collaborative environment with a high-performing team

  • Hone coding, problem-solving, and communication skills
