Controls Engineering Intern - Indianapolis, IN
Allegion is seeking a Controls intern to join our team for the summer of 2026. This is a great opportunity for a student to gain hands-on experience in a unique manufacturing and automation environment. This position will work closely with experienced Controls engineers and technicians, contributing to real-world projects gaining valuable skills in industrial automation.
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. The company does not intend to provide sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B, TN, etc.) for this employment position.
What You Will Do:
Assist with development and troubleshooting of new and existing automation systems
Work with industrial communication networks and infrastructure
Assist in creating and updating electrical and pneumatic schematics, prints, and technical documentation
Support the installation, testing, and startup of new equipment on the manufacturing floor
Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action for controls-related issues
Assist in maintaining software backups and version control for automation systems
What You Need to Succeed:
Currently enrolled in an engineering, engineering technology, computer science, technical, or related field of study
Basic understanding of electrical circuits and a willingness to continue learning
Strong problem-solving skills with a tenacity for finding the root cause of issues and implementing solutions
Aptitude for technical communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as executing on tasks independently
Eagerness to learn new technologies

Collaboration through working with cross-functional teams, including maintenance, operations, engineering, and more.
