2026 Industrial Design Intern

What will I be doing?

You will be working inside Studio PKG, the creative packaging studio for Altium. The design function at Studio PKG is constantly evolving, and we are looking for a dynamic Design Intern to support key business initiatives, and growth. We are also looking for the intern to step in and make an impact from day one.  The intern experience will be designed to provide opportunities to work directly with Studio PKG and other engineering teams on challenging and exciting projects.  Potential projects include:

  • Work side by side with designers on a customer design project
  • Organizing and leading a design thinking project for an innovation initiative
  • Assisting the design team with process improvement and re-branding initiatives
  • Organizing and migrating technical design data to our Product Data Management Tool


What does the internship experience look like?

As an intern with Altium you will have exposure to real projects and will play a crucial role in the decision-making process.  The experience will include:

  • You will have a design mentor
  • Group Intern learning experiences and events (for summer interns)
  • Business exposure
  • Valuable project management involvement
  • Final presentation “report out” with all other interns highlighting key learnings and summer experience

What will I gain from the internship?

At the end of 12 weeks, you will have a wealth of functional design related projects to call upon in your return to school, you will have exposure to parts of Altium’s businesses and have created tremendous value for Altium as a whole. You will have 12 weeks of full-time design experience and engineering exposure coupled with working with experienced professionals and customers.

You will gain valuable project management experience, leadership skills, the ability to influence across levels of the organization, presentation skills, public speaking opportunities, further knowledge of our design software, analytical decision-making processes, developing alternatives to issues, and the ability to apply technical skills learned in school, and use them in a functional setting. The skills you develop from an Altium internship will serve you well in the rest of your schooling, as well as in your professional life.

Am I eligible for an internship?

  • Candidates should be enrolled in at least 3rd year of an Industrial Design or Design Thinking program.
  • Should have strong working knowledge of SolidWorks, including modeling in 3D modeling and 2D print templates.
  • Ability to use rendering tools such as KeyShot, Vizcom, Midjourney, and SolidWorks Visualize would be beneficial
  • Have the ability to multi-task and have strong organizational
  • Experience with a Product Data Management tool (PDM)
  • Are you hardworking, can you take initiative and possess a dedicated outlook?
  • Experience with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator and Photoshop is preferred.
  • You must be available to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks, though 12 weeks is preferred. A GPA minimum of 3.0 is required. 
  • Strong candidates will also exhibit sound leadership, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Reasonable mandatory overtime may be required due to business needs.
