This position is expected to start around August or September 2025 and continue through the Fall term (ending approximately December 2025) or continuing into Winter/Spring 2026 if available and there is an opportunity to do so. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time and on-site, for most internships. Our internship program is for students who are actively enrolled in an academic program. Recent graduates seeking employment after graduation and not returning to school should apply for full-time positions, not internships. 

 

International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

About Noise, Vibration, Harshness Engineering 

As an NVH engineering intern you will play a role in the design and development of Tesla's industry-leading products. You will analyze, optimize, and revolutionize electric vehicle designs. You will work with fellow NVH engineers and other engineering teams to solve the toughest challenges in the industry and deliver world-class performance. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for designing prototype parts and evaluate their NVH impact 

  • Optimize the existing sound package to meet the design target (cost, mass, and performance 

  • Come up with a creative idea for next generation lightweight sound package 

  • Conduct and analyze NVH testing of vehicle components to provide design guidance during the design and development process to achieve world-class vehicle attribute targets 

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot vehicle NVH issues through testing and analysis (TPA, panel contribution, FRF, ODS, etc.) 

  • Assess and analyze vehicle NVH performance to optimize and enhance NVH attributes 

  • Engage in collaborative efforts with the design and manufacturing to upload the quality of NVH attributes  

  • Perform component and full vehicle level testing to support NVH performance validation, attribute targets setting and CAE correlation 

  • Develop and refine NVH test methods, procedures and processing techniques 

Job Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field  

  • Excellent understanding of acoustics and vibration principles, digital signal processing, sound quality metrics 

  • Experience with Modal Analysis, Transfer Path Analysis (TPA), Panel Contribution Analysis and general data acquisition  

  • Experienced in NVH test equipment including impact hammers, shakers, PU probes, acoustic cameras, impedance tube, string pot, accelerometers and microphones 

  • Excellent knowledge of Siemens Simcenter Testlab software for data acquisition and post-processing  

  • Proficient with MATLAB or Python, CAD, SEA (Actran SEA or equivalent), Alphacell (or material analysis tool), and Alpha cabin 

  • Strong communication skills, self-motivation, independent worker, excellent team player 

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver independent root cause analysis on difficult projects with tight timing constraints
