The Opportunity:

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Electrical Engineering Co-op Student to join our team for a 4-month term, with the possibility of extension based on performance. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in electrical engineering, working closely with our Electrical and Instrumentation & Control Engineering and Design Team. The successful candidate will assist with various tasks, including coordination, drafting, documentation, and design calculations, while developing essential skills and knowledge in a supportive and dynamic environment.

What you can expect to do here:

  • Assist the Electrical and Instrumentation & Control Engineering and Design Team with various tasks, including coordination, drafting, documentation, and design calculations.
  • Develop project documentation such as specifications, datasheets, lists, calculations, and reports using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Utilize strong computer skills in MS Office and engineering software and tools, including CAD, to support design and documentation tasks.
  • Apply working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit 3D to enhance design accuracy and efficiency.
  • Leverage familiarity with engineering study software for arc flash, load, fault, and coordination studies, as well as lighting and grounding, to support design.
  • Understand and apply standards, government policies, and basic principles of power generation, transmission, distribution, instruments, and controls to ensure compliance and optimal design.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • Completion of the second year or higher in an undergraduate program in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience working with volunteers and/or previous co-op experience (preferred but not required).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to deliver comprehensive designs and meet deadlines.
  • Enthusiastic, eager to learn, detail-oriented, organized, and hardworking.
  • Highly developed research, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • High degree of self-motivation, initiative, resilience, and adaptability.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with team members and other disciplines.
