This position is expected to start around May 2025 and continue through the Summer term (approximately August 2025) or into Fall 2025 if available and there is an opportunity to do so. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time and on-site, for most internships. Our internship program is for students who are actively enrolled in an academic program. Recent graduates seeking employment after graduation and not returning to school should apply for full-time positions, not internships.

International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

About the Team

Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Software QA Engineering Intern for the Wireless Systems team to help develop and validate high quality wireless technologies for existing and future Self-Driving & Optimus platform initiatives. This role involves designing and implementing test cases, troubleshooting and validation of various software bugs and features, enhancing Test automation for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Cellular technologies and closely working with Development, other QA, hardware and program management teams internally and externally with vendors and Tesla partners. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Design end-to-end test plans, procedures and scripts for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Cellular systems

  • Bring up and maintain test setups and apparatus for validation cycles

  • Root-cause issues reported by internal, other Development and QA teams and customer feedback 

  • Provide support to Software Development and Manufacturing teams 

  • Enhance Test automation frameworks and data analysis tools 

  • Analyze telemetry data and identify fleet wide issues 

  • Identify areas of opportunity and implement improvements, knowledge sharing and best practices 

  • Drive various tasks to completion and be the connoisseur of great quality product 

Job Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science / Engineering, or a related field 
  • Strong Python, Perl, or Ruby programming skills, familiarity with common python packages 
  • Familiarity with machine learning algorithms, familiarity with robotics algorithms such as Kalman Filter, Particle Filter, SLAM. Strong training of math (probability, statistics, linear algebra) 
  • Experience with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or Cellular troubleshooting/debugging tools (Wireshark, Ellysis, Frontline, log analysis, etc.)
  • Very strong mathematical skills in probability, advanced linear algebra and calculus 
  • Good data analysis and data visualization skills would be a huge plus
