We are seeking a motivated student intern to join our IT team and help develop Claude AI agents while serving as a technical mentor to select staff. This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of AI integration in higher education while gaining hands-on experience with cutting-edge tools and technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Claude Agent Development: Design, build, and deploy Claude AI agents using Claude Pro/Edu platforms to solve real campus challenges
Technical Implementation: Utilize Claude Code CLI tool for agentic coding tasks and workflow automation
Workflow Automation: Create and maintain automated processes using n8n workflow platform
Custom Development: Build and deploy custom MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers on Hostinger infrastructure
Knowledge Transfer: Teach, mentorand develop training materials for staff on Claude AI capabilities, best practices, and implementation strategies
Documentation: Work with IT staff on creating comprehensive guides and documentation for developed solutions
Problem-Solving: Identify opportunities for AI integration across Batten focus areas
Testing & Optimization: Ensure agent reliability, performance, and security compliance
Required Qualifications
Current enrollment as undergraduate or graduate student at UVA
Experience with Claude Code and Claude Agent building
Strong programming fundamentals (Python, JavaScript, or similar languages preferred)
Experience with API integration and web services
Basic understanding of cloud hosting and server management
Good communication and teaching skills
Self-motivated with ability to learn new technologies quickly
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience with additionalAI/ML platforms or large language models
Familiarity with workflow automation tools (n8nor similar)
Familiarity with MCP server use, build and deployment (via Hostinger or similar)
Knowledge of educational technology environments
Experience with version control (Git) and collaborative development
Understanding of security practices in higher education IT

Position Details:
Duration: Spring 2026 semester (approximately 15-20 hours/week)
Schedule: Flexible, coordinated with class schedule
Location: Hybrid (on-grounds and remote work options)
Compensation: $20/hour
