During your internship you will assist in the design and implementation of simulation workflows including the setup of software interfaces, data handling as well as pre- and post-processing to automate comprehensive multiphysics simulations.
In an interdisciplinary team of scientists, software- and web developers you will support software development from ideation to implementation and testing.
You will develop algorithms for pre- and post-processing routines and data visualization.
Additionally, you will also develop material models and assess the use of machine learning methods for particular applications.
For the development of a material database, you will enhance cloud-based data structures.
Furthermore, you will develop new Python software modules contributing to the overall simulation workflow.
Finally, you will be responsible for maintaining code quality, e.g. through Clean Coding, Test Driven Development and Version Control.

Education: studies in the field of Engineering, Computer Science, Natural Sciences, Software Engineering or comparable
Experience and Knowledge: excellent coding skills in Python (especially in pandas, PyTorch) including version control (e.g. Git) and OOP; experience in creating and working with data structures; experience with numerical simulation methods like FEM or CFD (ideally in Comsol); experience with ParaView and PyVista is a plus
Personality and Working Practice: you excel at communicating, structuring tasks, and creatively solving problems
Enthusiasm: passion for "automate everything"
Languages: very good in German and/or English
