The BMC2 Capabilities engineering organization is seeking a Software Intern to join our software development team located onsite in St. Petersburg, FL.  

Our teams develop software primarily in C++. Candidates can expect to work on many—if not all—of the phases of the software development life cycle.   In this position, you will be responsible for providing practical solutions to difficult technical software problems. Software Engineering positions include working on a variety of different tasks including real-time software development, application software development, test and verification, data analysis, software tools development, and many others. Teams are organized using Agile scrum methodology.

What You Will Do:

  • Participate in the requirements, design, development and testing of embedded software, including application, middleware, operating system and supporting tools, to include development of new work products or enhancement of existing applications and systems.

  • Design, code, test, integrate, and document software solutions.

  • Participate in internal review of software components and systems.

  • Coaching, reviewing and delegating work to lower-level professionals.

  • Follow established development practices and processes to maintain the configuration management of software products.

  • Operate in a collaborative, SAFe agile environment.

​Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required ​

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance ​​

Qualifications We Prefer:​

  • Knowledge of data structures and algorithms, systems software design, operating systems, architectures, software development life cycle and processes.

  • Experience developing C++ software in a team-based development environment, preferably Agile/SCRUM, DevSecOps and test automation

  • Experience in real-time C++ embedded software, and with Windows and Linux Operating Systems, GIT, Jira, Jenkins, Pearl, Bash, and Kornshell.

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, including ability to produce technical documentation, and the desire to learn new technologies and tools.

  • The ideal candidate is adaptable, flexible and eager to learn new concepts and discipline skills that may be on the periphery of the traditional boundaries of Software Engineering.    This includes basic understanding of upfront Software-Systems Engineering skills such as Requirements Analysis, Architecture and Design.  It also includes basic understanding of Verification and Validation of Software in simulated, laboratory and tactical environments.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
