Position Overview

The Process Development and Automation Intern will support the development, implementation, and optimization of automated workflows and laboratory systems in a dynamic clinical lab environment. This internship offers hands-on experience with process automation hardware, software applications, and laboratory instruments, while working alongside experienced engineers and cross-functional teams.

Essential Duties

  • Assist in the setup, testing, and documentation of automated laboratory workflows.
  • Shadow and support engineers in system design, integration, and commissioning activities.
  • Help gather requirements and contribute to the evaluation of new technologies and automation platforms.
  • Maintain project documentation and assist with troubleshooting and process improvements.
  • Must have a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Must be highly organized and able to produce high-quality work as part of a team.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.

  • Support and comply with the company’s Quality Management System policies and procedures.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Ability to work designated schedule.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds for approximately 1% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to work seated for approximately 40% of a typical working day. Ability to work standing for approximately 60% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 30% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Associate degree program in Engineering, with a minimum of one year of relevant college-level coursework completed toward the major.
  • Basic computer skills to include Internet navigation, Email usage, and word processing.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
