The Role

Join Moderna’s Clinical Biomarkers team to help advance assays that support our clinical trials. As a Co-Op, you’ll contribute to the technical development, qualification, and validation of biomarker assays and help keep our cross-functional partners aligned through clear, timely communications and documentation.

Here’s What You’ll Do

  • Support oversight of assay development & validation (CROs & internal labs): Coordinate timelines and materials, review draft protocols and qualification/validation plans, monitor method transfer and readiness, track performance against acceptance criteria, verify data integrity and deliverables, summarize status/risks for stakeholders, and keep documentation inspection-ready

  • Support study readiness: Help prepare or refine study-facing documents (Clinical assay plan, Vendor Oversight plans, Bioanalytical plans and reports) with guidance from mentors

  • Drive clear team communication: draft short weekly/biweekly summaries, contribute slides for cross-functional meetings, and maintain dashboards that summarize assay status, risks, and timelines

  • Operational excellence: Help improve templates/SOPs, , and support inspection-readiness documentation practices.

  • Learn the biomarker lifecycle: Observe how biomarker and how biosamples move from collection to data delivery

Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate program in Biomedical Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology or similar.

  • Basic knowledge of standard lab procedures required

  • Completed foundational biology courses such as cell biology, immunology, microbiology

  • Comfortable with Excel/Smartsheets

  •  Ability to provide concise written updates, maintain version control of files, and confidence presenting progress to teammates.

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Exposure to regulated environments (GLP/GCP awareness) and/or working with external labs or CROs.

  • Project experience in infectious diseases, immunology, or clinical/translational research
