Key Position Details:
Allina Health Neuroscience Spine and Pain Institute (AHNSPI) seeks to employ a full-time position in Neurology as Program Director of the newly created ACGME Board Certified Adult Neurology Residency Program. This program will be recruiting 3 categorical residents per year for a total approved complement of 12 residents with first class slated to start July 2026. Residents in their PGY 1 year will be working with Abbott Northwestern Internal Medicine Residents.
Allina Health is also home to Family Medicine Residency and Vascular Surgery Fellowship Program in addition to being the clinical site for several fellowships through alliance with Metro GME (Collaboration between University of Minnesota, Hennepin Healthcare, Children’s Minnesota, and Allina Health).
AHNSPI is a regional leader in specialty care. In addition to maintaining its core strengths — two Comprehensive Stroke Centers, one Primary Plus Stroke Center, a Level 4 Epilepsy Center — the Institute expanded to broaden the range of support and treatment options it offers. In 2024, Allina Heath had 116k hospital visits for Neurological and Spine care. 400+ aneurysms treated, 2500+ strokes treated across our sites. You will be joining a large multispecialty practice with a mature inpatient service, tele neurology service and growing outpatient multispecialty clinic. Neuroscience Research investigators specialize in a wide range of clinical areas including neuro-oncology, neuropathology, neuroradiology, neurophysiology, and stroke neurology who continually strive to apply the discoveries made from our research projects toward improvements in patient care.
Principle Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the neurology residency program in accordance with ACGME requirements.
Oversee recruitment, mentoring, and evaluation of residents.
Collaborate with departmental and institutional leadership to advance the mission of education, patient care, and research.
Ensure excellence in curriculum development, evaluation, and implementation.
Maintain an active clinical role in Neurology.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Doctoral/Ph.D. level advanced degree in Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or foreign equivalent from an approved school of medicine
Adult Neurology Residency
3+ years of current or very recent PD, APD, or Core faculty experience in an accredited neurology GME program
Recent history of scholarly activities/research
Licenses/Certifications
Minnesota State license-Should qualify and be eligible for MN state license required
Board Certified in Neurology by ABPN required
Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate required upon hire
Prescription Monitoring Program required upon hire
National Provider Identifier required upon hire
Must meet at least ONE of the requirements below:
◦ Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
◦ Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross
◦ Allina in-house BLS training (within 180 days of hire)

Job Description:
Principle Responsibilities
- Direct Patient Care.
- Diagnoses, treats and consults patients who have a disease or impaired function of the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, muscles and autonomic nervous system, as well as the blood vessels that relate to these structures.
- Examines patient’s mental and physical status, conduct medical tests and scans, and evaluate the results to diagnose and treat the patient.
- Performs and interpret basic neurophysiology tests.
- Reviews patient's medical history while collecting, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation.
- Evaluates, interprets, and coordinates information to make decisions and recommendations regarding patient care.
- Provides education, consultation or intervention to patients (treatment plan) and their families.
- Works collaboratively with patients to improve their health and well-being.
- Practices in a thoughtful manner including consideration for cultural diversity, individual autonomy and legal responsibilities.
- Participates in neuroscience research activities.
- Charts in electronic format in accordance with licensure and scope.
- Actively participates in multidisciplinary team approach to case management.
- May provide care in an ambulatory clinic, inpatient or outpatient hospital setting.
- May participate in on-call rotation.
- Quality.
- Utilizes quality improvement tools to develop processes that promote continuous improvement in delivery of patient care, patient outcomes, or work flows.
- May participate in peer review and quality assurance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Doctoral/Ph.D. level advanced degree in Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or foreign equivalent from an approved school of medicine required and
- Completion of an accredited Residency training program in Neurology or foreign equivalent training required
- Licensed Physician - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire and
- BLS Tier 1 - Multisource required within 180 Days and
- Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate upon hire required and
- Prescription Monitoring Program upon hire required and
- National Provider Identifier upon hire required

Pay Range
Pay Range: $320,000 to $361,000 per yearThe pay described reflects the starting base pay range, assuming a full-time FTE. Your starting rate will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable).Benefit Summary
