Job Description
AECOM is seeking a talented and highly motivated Structural Engineering Intern to join the Buildings & Places team in Denver, Colorado.
Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional. Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning.
This position is expected to begin in Summer 2026.
The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to:
- Become a part of the design team on one or more projects, coordinating with other engineering and architecture disciplines and producing construction documents
- Learn to design in Autodesk Revit
- Assist in the preparation of designs, quantity calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings
- Use computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems
- Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Candidates must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering focusing on Structural Engineering and must have completed at least two years of study. Candidates who have recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience or knowledge of structural designs or projects.
- Knowledge and experience using CADD and industry-standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as AutoCAD or MicroStation).
- Ability to balance various project and company responsibilities and deadlines, while maintaining professionalism and quality.
- Adaptable and flexible, showing a willingness and ability to take on new projects or areas with or without supervision, as required.
- Team-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to proficiently communicate both internally and externally to build collaborative relationships.
