Our Robotics Solutions Engineer Apprenticeship Program is structured to provide in-depth technical training, hands-on experience, and exposure to real-world challenges faced by our Systems Integration Engineering and Service Solutions teams. The program is designed for recent graduates with a strong foundation in engineering, technology, or related fields, and is aimed at those eager to learn and grow within the rapidly evolving medical robotics industry! This program has an anticipated start in Fall 2025.

Key Training Areas:
Robotic System Integration: Develop excellent proficiency in the interdisciplinary field of systems integration that draws upon mechatronics hardware, software, and process development. Training will cover the calibration, testing, configuration management, and root-cause analysis of OTTAVA™ including operating the system in clinical settings.
New Product Introduction (NPI): Gain a deep understanding of the capital equipment NPI process, learning how new robotic technologies are developed, manufactured, tested, and launched. This includes involvement in the key stages of robotic components production and assembly, understanding quality control processes, compliance standards, and ensuring systems are ready for use in clinical settings.
Field Service Procedures: Acquire knowledge and hands-on experience in installation, deployment, upgrades, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs.
Technical Support and Customer Service: Develop the skills necessary to provide excellent service and support to healthcare professionals, ensuring optimal system performance and customer satisfaction.
As a Robotics Solutions Engineer Apprentice, you will learn how to apply a broad variety of engineering subject areas to integrate, operate, root-cause, and maintain the incredibly sophisticated OTTAVA™ Robotic Surgical System in hospitals and medical facilities as part of the Service Solutions organization.
Upon completion of the training program, individuals will relocate to one of our OTTAVA sites.
Qualifications
Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.
An undergraduate or graduate degree in a relevant engineering field, including Electrical, Computer, Software, Mechatronics, Systems, or Robotics Engineering with a graduation date between May 2024 to September 2025.
Proven understanding of programming concepts and ability to modify existing code (C++, python, etc.)
Fundamental understanding across software, controls, robotics, mechanical, and electrical engineering, with ability to quickly come up to speed in new technical areas
Must understand electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and other related user documentation
Experience partitioning and decomposing sophisticated engineering problems into solvable problems
Excellent collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills in leading projects
Demonstrated hands-on experience with software-controlled mechanical systems preferred
Previous projects developing robotic systems preferred
Working knowledge in electrical engineering and associated test equipment preferred
Experience with development in a Linux environment preferred
Experience in regulated industry preferred
Ability to relocate anywhere in the United States upon successful completion of Robotics Solutions Engineering apprenticeship program is required.
Travel frequency up to 40% within the US.
Work Environment:
This position is primarily a field-based role that includes the following work environment:
Research and development lab facilities
Hospitals operating rooms, procurement center loading docks, and storage Locations
Service and repair center activities
Professional Education labs
Professional conferences, trade shows and congress
Physical Demands:
May require lifting of up to 25 lbs. and operation of hoisting equipment for heavier loads
May require prolonged periods of standing, bending, sitting, and kneeling during system integration.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
Availability to work extended day shift preferred (8AM-5:00PM) to overlap with R&D and Manufacturing
The anticipated base pay range for this position is $59,000 to $85,100. California Bay Area - The anticipated base pay range for this position is $69,000 to $110,000.
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, Employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:
Vacation –120 hours per calendar year
Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year
Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year
Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child
Condolence Leave – 30 days for an immediate family member: 5 days for an extended family member
Caregiver Leave – 10 days
Volunteer Leave – 4 days
Military Spouse Time-Off – 80 hours
