Position Overview
As a summer intern within our equity research division, you will gain valuable exposure to real-world financial analysis and develop a greater understanding of stock markets and individual stock valuation while interacting with internal and external experts in their fields. This 10-week program provides the foundation for a career in institutional equity research.
Duration: 10 weeks (June – August 2026)
- Week 1–2: Orientation, platform training, and sector assignments.
- Week 3–8: Active project work supporting analyst teams.
- Week 9–10: Final project presentation and earnings season for covered companies.
Location: Arlington, VA
Key Responsibilities
Research Support
- Work with a specific analyst or sector to provide analytical support for ongoing or new research projects.
- Participate in industry and company research, financial analysis, and report writing.
- Develop and maintain financial models under analyst and associate supervision.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis.
Market Engagement
- Interact with internal and external industry experts and corporate executives.
- Attend earnings calls and investor presentations.
- Contribute to daily research-sales meetings and department briefings.
Professional Development
- Gain exposure to B. Riley Securities’ products, services, and business practices.
- Develop proficiency in financial databases and research tools.
- Build presentation and communication skills through project work.
- Network with professionals across the B. Riley Securities platform.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Education Requirements
- Rising college senior or graduate student.
- Major in finance, accounting, economics, or related field such as healthcare or mining preferred.
- Strong academic performance with involvement in university investment club.
Technical Skills
- Required: proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Preferred: experience with Bloomberg Terminal and/or FactSet.
- Valued: financial modeling coursework or experience.
Personal Attributes
- Intellectual curiosity about markets and businesses.
- Self-starter who can work independent of daily oversight.
- Contribute and communicate confidently in a team environment.
- High level of maturity and professionalism.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills.

Additional Qualifications
- Leadership role in university investment clubs or finance organizations.
- Previous finance internship experience a plus.
- Demonstrated interest in equity markets through coursework and/or personal investing.
Application Process
We are seeking exceptional talent for summer 2026. The selection process includes:
- Application review: Resume review for relevant coursework and experience.
- Phone screen: 30-minute interview with research team member.
- Associate interview: 60-minute interview with a team of associates to include a stock pitch. In person in Arlington, VA, over winter break if possible.
- Analyst interview: Interview with sector analyst.
