Organization & TeamOverview
Xumo, a joint venture between Comcast and Charter, was formed to develop and offer a next-generation streaming platform on a variety of branded 4K streaming devices and smart TVs. Powered by Comcast’s global technology platform, Xumo devices and services feature an entertainment experience designed to make it easy for consumers to find and enjoy their favorite streaming content through a world-class user interface and voice search, and for partners to meaningfully connect and engage with millions of consumers.
Our engineering team develop our free ad-supported service that currently delivers more than 200 unique streaming channels and features hundreds of free content choices on our own Xumo platform as well as leading streaming platforms such as YouTube, Amazon, Apple, Google, Roku and smart TV manufacturers such as Samsung, Vizio, LG, Sony.
Role Description
Are you passionate about machine learning, large scale data, and building real-world systems that improve user experiences for millions? Do you want to work at the intersection of entertainment, streaming media, and AI?
As a Graduate ML/Data Science Engineering Intern, you will help analyze, design, and build innovative ML models and data pipelines that directly shape Xumo’s products. You’ll work on projects that turn data into actionable business insights and smarter product features, from recommendation systems and content personalization to analyzing video streaming performance for better quality of experience. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams and gain exposure to the streaming technology.
What You'll Work On
Analyzing Xumo’s video streaming performance and user engagement data to identify opportunities for improving user experience and business outcomes.
Prototyping and evaluating recommendation algorithms to help users discover content they love.
Designing experiments and A/B tests to measure the impact of new features and ML models.
Creating dashboards and data visualizations that provide insights to product managers and business leaders.
Working closely with engineers to productionize your work and measure real-world impact.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Collaborate with engineers and data scientists to identify and scope impactful ML/data science projects.
Research, prototype, and implement ML models or data pipelines for content recommendation, personalization, or video performance optimization.
Analyze large-scale user engagement and streaming performance data to extract actionable insights.
Design and execute A/B tests and experiments to validate new product features or ML algorithms.
Present findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Participate in code and design reviews; contribute to documentation and best practices.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
PreferredSkills
Proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis, modeling, and scripting.
Experience with ML frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar.
Understanding of recommender systems, supervised/unsupervised learning, and NLP techniques.
Familiarity with cloud computing platforms .
Previous experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Experience designing, running, and interpreting A/B tests or experiments.
Strong communication skills, comfortable presenting technical findings to diverse audiences.
Self starter: able to independently research, learn, and implement new techniques.
Preferred Majors: Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or Applied Mathematics.
Minimum Qualifications and Eligibility Requirements
Currently enrolled in a graduate program in a relevant field at a U.S.-based college or university, with a strong academic record.
Rising second year Master’s or PhD student preferred (graduating Winter 2026–Spring 2028).
Returning to degree-program (for at least a semester) after the completion of the summer internship (meaning, student must be returning to school for Fall 2026 semester before graduating)
Available to work 40 hours per week over the course of the summer program starting June 1, 2026, through August 14, 2026
Authorized to work in the United States with no current or future sponsorship needs
Available to report in-person to the work location on the job posting (unless virtual offering)

Base Pay: $53.00Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Comcast provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
