About Applanix:

Trimble Applanix is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Geomatics Engineering Intern to join our team. This internship offers hands-on experience in the rapidly evolving fields of geospatial data acquisition and processing. The successful candidate will gain exposure to cutting-edge technology, working alongside experienced engineers to deliver high-quality spatial products for our diverse projects.

Key Responsibilites:

  • Data Processing: Process, clean, and classify LiDAR point cloud data and photogrammetry datasets to generate accurate 3D models, digital terrain models (DTMs), and orthophotos.

  • Quality Assurance (QA/QC): Perform software testing and validation on photogrammetry and LiDAR processing workflows and platforms to ensure data integrity and compliance with project specifications.

  • Field Operations: Assist senior staff in conducting field surveys using various equipment, including GPS/GNSS receivers and Total Stations, for control establishment and data verification.

  • Mapping & Analysis: Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software to analyze spatial data and contribute to mapping and drafting projects.

  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of processing parameters, testing results, and field data collection procedures.

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a B.S. or M.S. program in Geomatics Engineering, Surveying Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related geospatial field.

  • Fundamental understanding of Geomatics principles, including photogrammetry, LiDAR, GNSS, Inertial navigation, Geodesy, and land surveying.

  • Familiarity with LiDAR and photogrammetry processing workflows.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with specific processing software (e.g., Trimble Applanix POSPac, Trimble Business Center, Pix4D, etc.).

  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Matlab, C++, C Sharp).

  • Prior hands-on experience using Total Stations or GNSS equipment.
