Johnson & Johnson MedTech Surgery is recruiting for a Wound Closure & Healing (WC&H) or Biosurgery Global Technical Operations Engineering Co-Op, located in Raritan, NJ.
At J&J MedTech Surgery, we support products across the WC&H and Biosurgery platforms, as well as across the Endo-Mechanical, Energy, and Robotics businesses. The Ethicon Global Technical Operations team is searching for engineering co-ops to join the WC&H and Biosurgery platforms!
J&J MedTech Surgery WC&H is the global leader in wound closure, with products that improve efficiency, healing, and patient outcomes. WC&H’s product portfolio includes absorbable and non-absorbable sutures, knotless tissue control devices, topical skin adhesives, as well as mesh and molded products. We strive to develop products that not only passively help wounds heal by approximating tissue but also actively enhance the healing process.
As an engineering co-op, you will be assigned to support activities related to New Product Development (NPD) and/or Lifecycle Management (LCM), including: process development & qualification, equipment design/development/qualification, product design changes, significant mfg. process changes, test method development, external manufacturing process changes, and overall project and portfolio management.

Co-Op Terms: January to July/August 2026 OR May/June to December 2026
Key Responsibilities:
- Write and execute process development protocols and reports.
- Organize and submit process development samples for testing.
- Collect, analyze, & report process data.
- Collaborate with external suppliers to support key projects.
- Lead small technical projects and process changes.
- Support local community through the Credo inspired events and activities.
Qualifications
Education:
- Enrolled in an accredited college/university.
- Preferred majors are: Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, and Polymer Science and Engineering.
Experience and Skills:
Required:
- Must have transportation to and from work daily
- Completion of at least a first year of undergraduate academic program
- Must be able to balance multiple projects and maintain organization
- Must have the ability to work individually as well as on a team
- Must have good interpersonal and communication skills
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, Excel
- A minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 is required
- Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.
Preferred:
- Demonstrated leadership is preferred
- Proficient in the following are preferred: Minitab, Tableau
- Participation in campus/community service activities
The anticipated base pay for this position is between 23.00/hr and 51.50/hr, but will be based on candidate's program year, discipline, degree and/or experience. This position is overtime eligible. Intern/Co-ops may be eligible to participate in Company employee benefit programs such as medical insurance, sick time, holiday pay, and the Company’s consolidated retirement plan in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans. Housing stipend will be offered for those that qualify. This position is ineligible for severance.
