In-person role in Somerville, MA; remote work not available.

AgZen is tackling two of agriculture’s biggest challenges: waste and pollution.

Each year, billions are spent on pesticides and fertilizers, yet most never reach the crops - resulting in costly waste and significant environmental harm. We’re changing that. By using machine learning, computer vision, and fluid dynamics, AgZen optimizes chemical application in real time, reducing input use, minimizing pollution, and protecting both yields and ecosystems.

Founded out of MIT and backed by $13.5M in funding, our multidisciplinary team of engineers and ag science experts is redefining sustainable farming with breakthrough technology. We’re not just improving agriculture, we’re reimagining what’s possible.

About the Role:
As a Computer Vision ML Intern, you will be at the forefront of developing AgZen’s sensing and software portfolio. You will own and contribute to cutting-edge projects at the intersection of agrochemical spraying, machine learning, and computer vision. Collaborating closely with our world-class engineering team, you will help build software platforms that are revolutionizing agricultural efficiency for growers.

📍This role is located in Somerville, MA (Boston area) with work required to be in-person.

What You’ll Do:

  • Implement deep-learning models for object segmentation, classification, optical flow, and 3D reconstruction.
  • Architect and implement new end-to-end models to merge existing networks.
  • Employ quantization to enable power-efficient execution on edge devices.
  • Explore and develop innovative methods to improve model accuracy and inference speed, particularly in edge deployment scenarios.
  • Stay at the forefront of AI research in CNNs, transformers, and model quantization.
  • Architect and develop data processing and annotation pipelines for continuous system monitoring and improvement.
  • Collaborate across engineering teams to build technologies that integrate different fields.

What We're Looking For:

Required:

  • Currently pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience developing machine learning models (PyTorch preferred).
  • Advanced proficiency in Python, OpenCV, and related ML tools.
  • At least one prior internship with experience in computer vision/perception algorithm development.
  • A proactive and adaptable work ethic, with the ability to excel in a fast-paced, team-centric environment.
  • A genuine passion and curiosity for building innovative technology.

Preferred:

  • Experience with robotics systems that use perception and AI components.
  • Adept with the latest research in perception, machine learning, deep learning, and robotics.
