Salary Range: 40 to 50 (Currency: USD) (Pay period: per-year-salary)
We are seeking an onsite Metasurface Optical Design Intern for our Broomfield, CO location.
Applicants for placement in safety-sensitive positions will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug test.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, simulate, and optimize meta-optic devices as part of an integrated model of larger optical systems
- Collaborate with larger photonics and optics teams to develop novel and impactful photonic devices
YOU MUST HAVE:
- Must be currently enrolled in a Physics or Engineering PhD program intended on graduating on/after December 2026
- Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.
- Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person. defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status
WE VALUE:
- 3+ years’ experience (PhD inclusive) with computational modeling of photonic devices preferred
- Experience with adjoint optimization and inverse design techniques preferred
- Experience with metasurface modeling and design
- Experience with photonic modeling tools such as COMSOL (or other FEM), Lumerical (or other FDTD), RCWA (various)
- Experience with scientific coding tools (MATLAB, Python, etc.)
- Willingness and ability to communicate and collaborate with a larger team
- Interpersonal skills: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
- Openness to learning new computational methods and software, and enthusiasm for problem solving
- Commitment to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op
