Job Description

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a 3rd or 4th year Apprentice Millwright to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical systems and equipment at our granule production plant. This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and must adhere to all safety requirements and protocols associated with working in a hazardous environment.

This is a unionized position under the IAMAW, Lodge 692, and the successful candidate will be required to join the union and be subject to the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

When you join us, you will be:

  • Ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines

  • Locating sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments

  • Removing defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts

  • Determining changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments

  • Adjusting functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, and straightedges

  • Fabricating repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.

  • Conserving maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.

Our ideal candidate;

  • Must be a registered 3rd or 4th year Apprentice Millwright

  • Proven experience working in and maintaining a safe work environment with intimate knowledge of LOTO procedures or other relevant safety practices

  • Maintenance experience in manufacturing environment is an asset

  • Millwright skills, welding and machining experience preferred

  • Excellent working knowledge of appropriate use of hand tools and maintenance equipment

  • Ability to read and understand detailed repair & instruction manuals

  • Must be able to work with computer-based maintenance software

  • Possess superior analytical and troubleshooting skills

  • Must supply own hand tools appropriate to the equipment and environment

  • Qualified applicants will have good interpersonal and problem-solving skills and will be able to work with other trades and operators

  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds on a routine basis

  • Must be able to walk and/or stand 50-75% of the shift

Schedule:

The hours of work will be primarily Wednesday through Saturday (40 hours, day shift).
