Accounting Internship Summary:

CSX is a Fortune 500 company seeking future business leaders to help foster growth, efficiency and innovation. Interns within the Accounting Department will be placed onto either the Billing or the Accounting & Reporting teams for a 10-week immersion into CSX methods and culture. Individuals will complete challenging real-world assignments, working hand in hand with leaders across the company to improve decision-making and financial performance. The accounting internship provides an opportunity for candidates to experience what a role in accounting & reporting or billing, looks like, while allowing CSX to actively recruit tomorrow’s best talent.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities:

· Participate in and learn core areas of the accounting organization

· Contribute to special projects that support field employees, technology initiatives, customer relationships, financial and liquidity objectives, as well as reporting and compliance

· Engage in process improvement projects designed to improve best practices

· Conduct accounting research and summarize results

· Communicate analyses through presentations to senior management in the department

· Complete cross functional projects and miscellaneous activities as assigned by manager

Minimum Qualifications:

· Must be at least 18 years of age

· Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Business Management, Information Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science or a related major field of study from an accredited institution

· Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0 (based on a 4-point scale)

Preferred Qualifications:

· Anticipated graduation within a year after the end of the internship

· Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.5 (based on a 4-point scale)

Knowledge and Skills:

· Academic distinction with accounting or finance interest/talent

· Proven leadership ability and initiative

· Strong communication, interpersonal and influencing skills

· Ability to develop and deliver presentations to a senior level audience

· Proficient in Microsoft Office

Job Requirements:

· Work inside an office environment

· Communicate effectively with senior leadership/executive audiences

· Work within established deadlines

· Successfully complete a background check and drug test
