Salary Range: 27 to 32 (Currency: USD) (Pay period: per-hour-wage)

We are seeking an Opto-Mechanical Engineering Intern in our Broomfield, CO Location. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build and lab testing of passive and active opto-mechanical systems and component testing for quantum computers, including opto-mechanical prototype maturation and design for producibility goals. 
  • Perform performance analysis, qualification/inspection reports and comparison of different approaches/designs with respect to key figures of merit including trade studies 
  • Collaborate with the larger optical design, opto-mechanical design, and integrated photonics teams and provide creative solutions for better performance. 
  • Monitoring and automation of optical and opto-mechanical systems 

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program   
  • Graduating on or after 2026 
  • Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person. defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status 
  • Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.  

WE VALUE:

  • Individuals pursuing Engineering / Optics / Physics graduate programs 
  • Experience with theoretical and practical aspects of imaging and laser optics, including micro-optics 
  • Experience with scientific programming languages or optical simulation tools such as Matlab, Python, COMSOL, or similar 
  • Interpersonal skills: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration 
  • Experience with optical design programs such as Code V, Zemax, Lighttools, FRED, or similar. 
  • Experience with Mechanical design programs such as Solid Works or Onshape 
  • Commitment to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op
