DESCRIPTION & REQUIREMENTS

We invite current students and recent graduates with up to two years of experience to join our immersive data science internship. It'll offer broad exposure to projects involving machine learning and generative AI. You'll be staffed on one of our case teams and do real work interfacing with clients. If successful in the internship, it may lead to an offer to join us as Data Scientist.

This is a unique opportunity to work as an intern data scientist at a top strategy consulting firm. You’ll be staffed on a real case team where your background, opinion, and insights matter. You’ll own a distinct piece of that project and solve a challenging problem as a group. Unlike other programs, you’ll work directly on client cases. WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

You’ll join our Data Science & Machine Learning Engineering experts within the AI, Insights & Solutions team. This team is part of Bain’s digital capabilities practice, which includes experts in analytics, engineering, product management, and design. In this multidisciplinary environment, you'll leverage deep technical expertise with business acumen to help clients tackle their most transformative challenges. You’ll work on integrated teams alongside our general consultants and clients to develop data-driven strategies and innovative solutions. Together, we create human-centric solutions that harness the power of data and artificial intelligence to drive competitive advantage for our clients. WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a Data Science Intern in Bain’s AI, Insights and Solutions team, you will:

Work with fellow data scientists, consulting teams, and clients to understand business problems, translate them into data science projects, and execute
Develop and/or implement tools for data acquisition, extraction, transformation, management, and manipulation of large and complex data sets
Develop, prototype, test, and deploy machine learning or generative AI solutions on wide-ranging types of data sets and use case archetypes
Travel is required (typically 1–2 trips per case)
This position will be located either in Madrid

ABOUT YOU

Master’s Degree, PhD in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Econometrics, Business Analytics, or Market Research
Last year students or recent graduates with up to 2 years of experience
Strong foundation in Mathematics and Statistics
Proficiency with data wrangling, visualization and modeling in either Python or R is required
Experience in machine learning frameworks and tools (e.g. scikit-learn, Pytorch, etc.) is required
Proficiency in SQL is a plus

Experience with Generative AI systems is a plus
Experience with Git and modern software development workflow is a plus
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are pre-requisite for this role
Ability to explain and simplify complex technical topics to non-technical audiences
A high level of drive and the ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment
Fluency in Spanish and English is required
