Throughout your internship time at Nationwide, you’ll contribute to key business assignments that impact our mission and vision, all while developing and enhancing your understanding of procurement concepts and business processes.
Position description/key duties:
Procuring goods and services necessary to successfully run and grow our business is critical. Whether working to enable the processes that support buying decisions or finding the best supplier, price or contract terms, Nationwide Procurement brings expertise, skill and talent to the task.
We are seeking an intern that will support our sourcing organization through the entire vendor engagement and contracting process. As a Nationwide Procurement Intern, you will participate in research and analysis of market segments, working together with our business partners, including finance and risk, Procurement associates and fellow interns in a collaborative, team-based environment.
Our intern will contribute to Procurement projects and efforts, while gaining a comprehensive understanding of how Procurement partners with key business groups across the Enterprise. The intern will also gain an in-depth exposure to negotiation and contracting as part of the sourcing process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Procurement Process: Partners and collaborates with Procurement teams to manage intake, business pipelining, and data analytics, to provide a predictable, easy to follow and efficient procurement process.
- Negotiation and Contracting: Negotiates the terms of a basic or standard contract, including conditions, clauses, and service level agreements.
- Supplier Risk: Assesses supplier risk prior to contract and collaborates with applicable risk partners, e.g., Information Risk Management, for additional specialized assessments or necessary contract provisions.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Senior Consultant, Procurement.
Education: Candidates could be pursuing, but not limited to, degrees in the following academic fields: Supply Chain Management, Finance, Data Analytics or other related fields.
License/Certification/Designation: N/A
Experience: May have other internship experience.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Basic understanding of Microsoft Office products, programming languages, and data analytic tools. Basic level of business perspective and analysis, customer focus, and dealing with ambiguity. Proficient level of problem solving, learning on the fly, and making the best use of system capabilities.
Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the Chief Financial Officer and Human Resources Consultant/Manager.
