The internship will take place June 1st-August 7th 2026. Interns will be scheduled to work 20-30 hours per week, Mon-Fri business hours. This is an on-site role requiring the ability to work at locations throughout the Greater Charlotte area.
Pay Range
$20.00 - $20.00This internship offers a unique opportunity for students in Healthcare Administration, Public Service, or Business Administration programs to gain real-world experience in the fast-paced environment of an Emergency Department (ED). Interns will work closely with clinical and administrative teams to support operational efficiency, patient flow, and quality improvement initiatives.
Major Responsibilities:
- Assist in analyzing patient throughput and identifying bottlenecks in ED operations.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling, data entry, and documentation.
- Participate in quality and performance improvement projects related to patient care and safety.
- Observe and contribute to interdepartmental coordination and communication strategies.
- Help collect and interpret data for reporting metrics (e.g., wait times, discharge planning, resource utilization).
- Attend departmental meetings and shadow leadership to understand ED management practices.
- Collaborate with staff on initiatives to improve patient experience and satisfaction.
- Gain insight into the administrative and operational functions of an Emergency Department.
- Understand the challenges and strategies involved in managing patient flow and resource allocation.
- Develop skills in data analysis, project coordination, and healthcare communication.
- Build professional relationships with healthcare leaders and frontline staff.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- None Required.
Education Required:
- Currently enrolled with a junior or senior status in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Healthcare Administration, Public Service, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience Required:
- No experience required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Current enrollment with junior or senior status at a regional accredited college or university. Interns are expected to be in the process of obtaining an undergraduate degree
- Grade point average of at least 2.5.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability in successfully completing tasks.
- Strong teamwork skills.
- Effective multitasking and prioritization skills.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Excel.
- Must demonstrate integrity, maturity, dependability, a positive attitude and enthusiasm.
