BMW Group Plant Hams Hall is a modern, state-of-the-art engine manufacturing facility, located just outside Birmingham, UK. Producing the latest generation of three-, four-, eight- and twelve- cylinder petrol engines, and precision machining key engine components, the plant is celebrating 25 years of successful production in February 2026. Operating seven days a week, with more than one engine rolling off the line per minute, the plant plays a key role in BMW Group’s global production network, supplying engines for BMW and MINI, including some of the latest plug-in hybrid vehicles.
The planning function in Hams Hall are responsible for the specification, delivery and commissioning of new production facilities and products in the engine factory. The team consists of experienced process and technology planners alongside graduates and interns who support the work of the department. Collaboration with cross-functional teams helps seamlessly integrate new engine types and component-level innovations into our production lines, working closely with stakeholdersacross the BMW network and beyond to ensure flawless product integration without disrupting production.
BMW Hams Hall, Birmingham – Intern Process Planning - Digitalisation– 13 Month Placement (July 2026)
We are looking for an IT focused candidate to work in a cross-functional position between the planning department and the Innovation & Digitalisation (I&D). They will primarily be supporting our process digitalisation journey for our applications used internally and in the BMW Group Production Network. We have financial and project management systems that run on an APEX platform to deliver business efficiency in our core processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical development of these systems alongside integration of new features and AI tools. They will navigate evolving project constraints, whilst contributing to meeting structures and documentation to keep the project milestones on track.

What should you bring along?
- Our internship candidates are typically studying towards a Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or Software Development.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Coding proficiency in at least 2 programming languages.
- Presentation skills.
- A flexible approach to work.
- A hardworking and self-motivated attitude.
