The Role
As an intern in our AI/ML Center of Excellence Graphs Team, you will join a team of applied researchers and engineers building next-generation AI solutions. You will gain hands-on experience developing models and systems that support real-world use cases in graph AI, natural language processing, forecasting, optimization, reinforcement learning, speech, and conversational AI.
Graph AI is a core focus area at TWG, where we use graph-based techniques to model complex relationships in application areas such as fraud detection, knowledge graphs, and recommender systems. You will have the opportunity to work on state-of-the-art graph learning methods and contribute to initiatives involving foundation models and intelligent agents.
You will work within a team committed to upholding the highest standards of trust, transparency, safety, and security in AI, ensuring ethical practices and compliance with relevant regulations. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders will be a key part of your experience, providing exposure to both technical and business aspects of AI/ML initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Design, train, and evaluate AI/ML models, with an emphasis on graph-based learning techniques.
- Assist in data cleaning, engineering, and integration activities, as well as governance for AI projects. Support research and prototyping in graph neural networks, embeddings, and large-scale knowledge graphs.
- Support the Foundation Model and Agents Task Forces by contributing to research, data preparation, and model evaluation.
- Participate in maintaining documentation and inventory of AI/ML projects, ensuring adherence to governance and quality standards.
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical tasks.
- Stay informed about emerging AI technologies, research, and best practices, sharing insights with the team.
- Contribute to the measurement and reporting of project performance metrics.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a Ph.D. or master’s program in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Economics, Operations Research, Statistics, Mathematics or a related field.
- Coursework or project experience in AI/ML, including exposure to at least one of the following: graph algorithms, graph ML, natural language processing, network science, parallel computing.
- Familiarity with Python or similar programming languages and common AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with cloud-based AI/ML tools or platforms.
- Exposure to AI/ML governance, ethics, or responsible AI practices.
- Experience with Graph Neural Networks or graph embeddings (node2vec, DeepWalk).
- Familiarity with frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, Deep Graph Library (DGL), or graph databases like Neo4j.
- Participation in research or industry projects related to Graph AI or Foundation Models.
- Strong communication skills and ability to present technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Compensation
The expected hourly rate for this role is $43.27/hour.
