As an Intern or equivalent experience in Field Service with Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc., you will be part of our Instrument and Enterprise Services Division, which includes approximately 3,000 colleagues. Through our premier brand Unity Lab Services, our Field Service team offers customized service solutions and world-class experts to uniquely address customer needs. Our 2025 Field Service Engineer (FSE) Summer Intern position is part of our “Early Talent Strategy,” passionate about building a pipeline of engineering talent for Field Services.

Responsibilities
• Gain insights and knowledge by observing and learning from experienced FSEs.
• Take on a specific project linked to the Field Service Engineering business.
• Showcase your project findings and share your FSE Summer Intern experiences with our Divisional Leadership Team.
• Engage in a one-day volunteer project within your local community.

Education

Undergraduate student completing an Engineering or Life Sciences-related degree between December 2026 and June 2027

• Graduating students are eligible for the Summer Intern position only if they return to school the following semester to pursue the next level degree.
Experience


Requirements
• Available to work full-time (40 hours/week) for 12 weeks starting on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, and ending on or around Wednesday, August 20, 2026.
• Field-based, customer-facing position requiring flexibility to travel daily to meet your Field Service Engineer customer sites in the assigned region.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in engineering .
• Applicants must have a satisfactory academic record and be in good standing at their respective college or university.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship for employment visa status.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Self-starter with a powerful desire to learn and a passion for delivering an outstanding customer experience.
• Knowledge and experience with computer technology including Microsoft Suites (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).


What You Will Do
• Work side-by-side with Field Service Engineer mentors at customer sites.
• Complete an assigned project before the end of the Summer Intern Program.
• Represent the Company in a positive, professional manner in all interactions with Thermo Fisher Scientific employees, customers, and representatives.
• Ensure the highest level of customer happiness with Thermo Fisher Scientific products and services.


To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require sponsorship (current or future) for employment visa status. Thermo Fisher does not offer employment in this position to holders of F-1, J-1, H-1, OPT, and CPT Visas for the purpose of obtaining practical experience.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is $14.75–$28.75.
