Join IMEG as a Technology DesignIntern in St. Louis, MO, and help shape the intelligent, connected building systems that power today’s most advanced environments. Over 10–12 weeks, you’llassist in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of integrated technology (ICT) systems — including structured cabling, audio/video, security, and other smart building technologies. Collaborating across disciplines, you’ll see how consulting engineers translate client needs into innovative, code-compliant solutions. This hands-on role offers technical training, mentorship, and real-world experience to help launch your career in connected building design and technology integration.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing discipline-specific systems per code and IMEG standards

  • Research commercially available equipment

  • Support client relations, maintain project design notebooks, and prepare permanent record documentation

  • Coordinate design and schedules with other disciplines and suppliers

  • Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while tracking progress

  • Review project documents for accuracy and completeness before final checks

  • Prepare and issue addendum information

  • Conduct job site observations and perform services per contract requirements

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the employer

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical, 

Electronics, Computer or related Engineering, Information Technology, Computer 

Science, related STEM field, or equivalent required

  • Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

  • Strong interest in building design consulting

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenge

  • Developing proficiency in the use of BIM software

  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
