Your role and responsibilities
You will be joining the team working on building a zero-carbon council within a zero-carbon county. Travel represents a big part of the council’s footprint, and you will be supporting staff to find more environmentally friendly alternatives. This includes administering our existing benefits programme of public transport discounts and cycling programmes, as well as working with colleagues to expand the package of benefits.
Key activities will include:
- Administering travel discounts scheme, including eligibility checks and liaising with payroll and travel operators.
- Running the council’s carshare scheme, keeping up to date records and providing badges.
- Planning and coordinating a range of activities to support sustainable travel, such as communication campaigns and cycle maintenance sessions.

You will need
- Our ideal candidate has a good level of literacy and numeracy, and an eye for detail to be able to make sure all the claims are processed correctly.
- We hope you’ll bring a passion for helping us to support sustainable travel and enjoy looking for creative ways to reduce people’s reliance on the car.
- Bringing your people skills and empathy to the role will be important to making a success of the job.
