Located on the north shore of Canada’s largest port, Vancouver Drydock plays an integral role in supporting the vessels that serve Vancouver and the Pacific Northwest. Whether performing scheduled hull maintenance, replacing worn equipment, or fabricating and installing specialized machinery to enable a vessel’s mission, the skilled team of over 200 complete maintenance, repair and refit on over 50 projects per year on vessels ranging from small tugs, ferries, large freighters, Coast Guard vessels and cruise ships.
The Facilities Department is responsible for management of Vancouver Drydock’s assets. This includes the maintenance and upkeep of all physical land, building and structures as well as all equipment related to the physical plant or production activities. The Facilities Department manages all capital related projects and engineering works associated with facility investments and upgrades. The Facilities Department is responsible for providing oversight and guidance with respect to the master planning and implementation of facility related projects by prioritizing and assigning tasks to the appropriate divisions within the facilities department and ensure proper configuration management is in place to provide current, compliant, up to date information related to Vancouver Drydock's assets.
Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 203 East Esplanade, North Vancouver.
What you’ll do
In this position, you will work on all aspects of construction projects, from beginning to end, with responsibility for project execution while assisting the Manager, Operations Maintenance, with their daily tasks to complete objectives in a given time frame and with available resources. A range of activities that an intern may experience include:
- Reviewing work package data, material availability to ensure project success.
- Utilizing company used software to track progress and to produce reports for management.
- Cooperating with Production Managers and Project Managers to sequence and prioritize manufacturing assembly and installation activities.
- Evaluating bids from contractors for materials and labor costs for projects.
- Helping to maintain accurate records of the costs associated with each project.
- Working with architects or engineers to develop drawings for new structures or renovations to existing ones.
- Managing the day-to-day operations of a project including scheduling subcontractors, reviewing blueprints, and making sure that deadlines are met.
- Providing information to clients regarding project status and progress.
- Coordinating with subcontractors to ensure that they are following proper safety procedures and working within their designated time frame.
- Reviewing estimates for materials needed for construction projects and making sure they are consistent with the budget requirements.
- Communicating regularly with clients to make sure they are satisfied with the progress of the project.
What you’ll bring
- Enrollment in a Business Administration, Construction Management, Project Management or equivalent degree program.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Work with others as a team player.
- Organized with strong technical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interface with subcontractors, suppliers and professionals.
- Computer proficiency in the Windows environment.
- Ability to work outside and in inclement weather conditions.

We require a full-time commitment Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week with an hourly rate of $26.00/hour.
Start Date of Internship: Monday, January 12th, 2026.
End Date of Internship: Friday, May 1st, 2026 (4-Months).
