We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineering Intern to join our team. The goal of a Manufacturing Engineering Intern at Wisk is to ensure that new aircraft designs and final assembly processes are optimized for efficiency, quality, and overall manufacturability before scaling up to production. You will be part of the Manufacturing Engineering team that defines and implements robust, scalable assembly methods and tooling for our autonomous eVTOL aircraft.

In this role you will… You will be bridging the gap between design and production by focusing on Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles across the aircraft’s final assembly line. You will analyze complex 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings to identify potential assembly roadblocks and opportunities for process simplification. This role involves developing, documenting, and validating the standard work instructions and tooling concepts that production technicians will use. You will collaborate daily with design engineers to propose and evaluate changes that enhance assembly flow while maintaining critical safety and performance requirements. Your contributions will directly influence the quality and speed of our first production aircraft.

What you will do:

  • As part of the Manufacturing Engineering organization, and deployed in a Final Assembly Line, you will act as a Design for Manufacturing Specialist for a novel type of aircraft development targeting the autonomous UAM market.

  • You will support the Final Assembly team by creating detailed, accurate, and visually optimized assembly process documentation and work instructions.

  • You will help support problem solving activities related to early-stage assembly process validation, root cause analysis of build issues, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • In some areas, you will be working closely with the Design Engineering and Quality teams to evaluate design changes and ensure assembly processes meet all safety and certification standards.

  • As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you will help define the critical assembly sequence and workstation layouts for key aircraft sub-systems.

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.

  • You are actively seeking experience in a high-growth manufacturing or aerospace environment, demonstrated through relevant coursework or student projects.

  • You have academic exposure to or coursework covering engineering drawings, 3D CAD modeling, and basic interpretation of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).

  • You possess a foundational understanding of core manufacturing concepts, including Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Lean principles, and continuous improvement methodologies.

  • You are familiar with at least one major CAD software platform (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, Fusion 360) and are eager to learn professional tools like PLM saystems.
