Barry’s is the Best Workout in the WorldTM®. Founded in West Hollywood in 1998, it’s the original strength and cardio interval fitness experience that provides an immersive, high-intensity, one-hour workout that’s as effective as it is fun. Our fitness classes alternate between working out with weights and running on a treadmill. Each day focuses on a different muscle group in order to achieve real results and to prevent injuries. Our program is designed to tone muscle and maximize fat loss, while spiking the metabolism for up to 48 hours following the class.

About the role

As a Barry’s Summer Scholar, you represent the Barry’s brand within the studio and throughout the fitness community. We are looking for hard working, determined, and self-motivated candidates with solid communication, time management, and interpersonal skills. We seek candidates who act professionally and have strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment.  


As our P&C Summer Scholar, you join a People and Culture team in a shared service model supporting a large vision-driven organization. You will have a unique opportunity to be exposed to multiple areas of People & Culture  including HR Operations, Payroll & Benefits, Talent Development, and Talent Acquisition. You will also work cross functionally to directly support our employee population both in studio and HQ. The ideal candidate is a resourceful self-starter who wishes to develop on-the-job experience and is passionate about the Barry’s brand and thrives on being challenged.


What you'll do

  • Supports People and Culture leaders in providing visible, high-touch HR support for Barry's employees and serves as a back-up for total company HR queries.
  • Obtains detailed information regarding any employee-related issues and informs appropriate management of the proper procedure to proceed, including employee relations investigations.
  • Responds to internal and external People and Culture related enquiries or requests and provides further assistance.
  • Reviews, processes, and tracks employee actions in their existing region as well as for New Studio Openings (e.g., hires, transfers, promotions, terminations, receipt of disciplinary notices, etc.). Reviews and prepares necessary paperwork, obtains approvals, and ensures timely entry into online system and completion of background check.
  • Responsible for smooth onboarding and off boarding of employees, ensuring compliance with related checklists.
  • Responsible for Company technology device distribution and software access (e.g., Ramp, Marianatek, etc.).
  • Create and maintain organized employee records.
  • Responsible for Form I-9 completion and compliance.
  • Assist in the resignation process which includes sending initial resignation email, processing the term profile, confirming PTO payout with manager, scheduling exit interview and coordinating off-boarding efforts.
  • Ensure state-specific termination requirements are met (e.g., final pay, termination notices, etc.).
  • Assist studio population in obtaining employment verification documents.
  • Remain up-to-date on Barry's Handbooks, employee-related policies, PTO, and benefit and payroll information, to assist employees with any inquiries or issues they may have.
  • Is a skilled user of People and Culture related systems including MarianaTek (POS), Rippling, Sterling (background check), etc., and answers questions or directs employees to the proper outlet.
  • Support a data-driven People and Culture practice, by pulling and maintaining reports.
  • Assist in People Development programs and trainings, as needed. This includes leading sessions of opportunities.
  • Provide support for other People & Culture projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in college as a rising Junior or above, working toward a four-year degree
  • Provide a letter from your school verifying enrollment (upon offer)
  • College credit is based on individual school policy; it is not required
  • Summer Scholars may work a minimum of a 21-hour work week and a maximum 35-hour work week (35 hours preferred)
  • GPA of 3.0 or above is preferred
  • Available to work from approximately June through August
  • Must be available to work at our corporate HQ in Miami, FL
