At Collaborative Robotics, we’re redefining how robots work alongside humans. As a HRI Intern, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to physical experiences of our collaborative robot, Proxie, helping to ensure they’re not only functional but also intuitive and enjoyable to interact with. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that will redefine how robots interact with people in both the home and workplace.

This role is located at our Santa Clara, CA headquarters.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the design process: From concept development to prototyping, you’ll bring interaction ideas to life for Human Proxie physical experiences.
Interaction Frameworks: Contribute to defining interaction frameworks for cobots in various environments, ensuring a seamless user experience across multiple touchpoints.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with designers, engineers and pilot team to help design and refine digital and physical interactions that shape the overall cobot experience.
Prototyping: Assist in creating low- and high-fidelity prototypes to test and iterate on human to Proxie physical interactions that improve user engagement and usability.
Minimum Qualifications:
Pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in HCI, Human-Robot Interaction, Interaction Design, Cognitive Science, Robotics, Human Factors, or a related field.
A strong portfolio that reflects a wide range of interaction design explorations and practical implementation.
Healthy balance between research and practical execution.
Design fundamental skills: research, problem definition, prototyping, and integration.
Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, or Adobe Creative suite.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and dynamic start-up environment.
Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous internship experience in consultancies or in-house design teams.
Senior-level student or recent graduate with a focus on HRI or interaction design.
The non-exempt hourly range for this full-time position is $18-$20. Our salary ranges are determined by role and experience level. The range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the noted geographic area. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
