About the role

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Legal Counsel Intern to join our Legal team. This internship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-growing fintech environment, supporting a wide range of legal activities with a focus on commercial contracts and regulatory topics connected to payment services.

This role is based in Milan, where we will expect to see you at the office a minimum of three days per week (the other two can be remote), as per our remote working policy. The internship is set to start as soon as possible for a duration of six months.

What you will do

  • Work with the team to handle customer complaints and manage the reporting towards authority and counterparties;
  • Conduct legal research on payment regulations, consumer protection, data protection.
  • Assist in preparing and organizing corporate documentation.
  • Monitor regulatory updates in Italy and the EU and prepare internal briefs and summaries.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Compliance, Finance, Product, Marketing, Tech, Sales) to ensure legal alignment with business initiatives.
  • Review, draft, and support the negotiation of contracts (including, for example, merchant agreements, NDAs, service agreements, and marketing agreements).

You'll be great for this role if 

  • You have a Master’s degree in law;
  • You have a strong academic background with an interest in financial services;
  • You have previous experience in a law firm or in-house legal department, preferably in the payments or financial services sector; 
  • Interest in legal tools for AI a plus;
  • You have excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • You are a team player with good communication skills.
  • You are fluent in Italian and English (written and spoken). Additional European languages are considered a plus.
